Alpe Vago is one of the most beautiful and enchanting places in Livigno away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre and immersed in the peaceful tranquillity of the mountains, in a picture postcard setting. Enjoying this setting are both our animals, which in summer are guests of the alpine hut and graze freely, and those who stop at our refreshment hut for a tasty snack or a typical lunch enhanced by fresh produce from our farm, which you can also buy here.
Alpe Vago is easily accessible in all seasons with a non-demanding hike from Livigno in summer, on foot or by bicycle (starting from car parks P8, the closest with about 1 km of walking, or P7), or on cross-country skis or snowshoes in winter (starting from the Hotel Forcola bus stop in Livigno) following a 3 km beaten snow route that can be covered in about 45 minutes on foot. The malga is located on the path to the Val Nera waterfalls one of Livigno's best natural attractions. Stopping here is a must, because as our motto says "Al Vago mi svago!".
The Alpe Vago Alpine hut: typical cuisine and mountain products
From 2023, Alpe Vago will be a fully-fledged mountain refreshment in Livigno where authentic flavours can be enjoyed in every season. We offer our guests numerous tables outside, where they can eat outside in summer, and also inside.
At lunch you can enjoy a typical menu with mountain first and second courses such as our pizzoccheri prepared according to our grandparents' recipe, polenta and meat specialities (ribs, shin, lamb, sausage, stew, mutton chops), while for a snack, slices of cake and alpine pasture delicacies such as yoghurt and cream, strictly with strawberries or wild blueberries.
For an aperitif, a snack or a tasting there is the Shepherd's basket which contains a selection of local products such as our alpine pasture delicacies, Livigno beer, berries, jams and Valtellina honey.
Open daily for lunch (without reservation) and dinner (only by reservation and for a minimum of 10-12 persons).
